Q: Can the SenseAware 1000 device measure temperature below -20°C? A: The SenseAware 1000 device battery life will decrease below -20°C. The device will cease functioning at -35°C. Q: Is the device protected from moisture? A: SenseAware 1000 device enclosures have a National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 4 rating, which means they are splash proof. Do not submerge in or place in direct contact with water or any other liquids. Q: Can the device be shipped with dry ice? A: Yes, the SenseAware 1000 device can be used to monitor a shipment containing dry ice, provided the device is not in direct contact with the dry ice or it does not reach a temperature below -20°C. Q: Are other devices compatible with the SenseAware application? A: SenseAware is actively working with third-party hardware manufacturers to enable customers to use other devices with the SenseAware application. Interested manufacturers can get more information on the Alliances page. Q: What types of alert capabilities does SenseAware provide? A: SenseAware provides email alerts for three types of measurement: location, temperature and exposure to light. You can configure custom triggers that alert you if the content of your shipment exceeds the preset limits. SenseAware can also monitor humidity and barometric pressure. Q: Can I invite someone to participate in a specific shipment? A: Yes, you can add an individual as a participant to any particular shipment, enabling him or her to monitor and receive any alerts or notifications. Q: Is the device validated for accurate temperature readings? A: The SenseAware 1000 device is validated using dedicated equipment that is calibrated according to the ISO/IEC17025 guidelines. Instruments are traceable to the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Q: When will SenseAware launch internationally? A: SenseAware is expected to be available on a limited basis internationally by late 2011. Q: How can I find out more about SenseAware? Q: Can SenseAware be used with any other transportation companies? A: At this time, SenseAware is not available for use with transportation providers other than FedEx and private fleets. A: SenseAware and FedEx Priority Alert® can be utilized in a combined solution that enables you to have the FedEx Priority Alert team monitor and potentially respond to SenseAware shipment exceptions.
